Five From Softball Earn NFCA NAIA All-Region Honors
LOUISVILLE, KY. (May 24, 2024) - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the 152 student-athletes from 64 schools who comprise the 2024 NFCA NAIA All-Region teams. Four players from the NAIA No. 1-ranked Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) softball program were selected to the NAIA All-Region Teams.
Four of the five choices for top NAIA World Series seed OLLU (Region II) were first-teamers. Kayla Dreese, Madison Garza, Grace Ross and Cassandra Valdez made the First Team. Kristee Salas earned Second Team recognition.
Dreese leads the team with a .428 batting average and second among on-base percentage at .512. Garza has 54 hits with 18 being extra bases. Ross joined the team this season as a transfer from Huston-Tillotson University. She has a .652 slugging percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Valdez has shined offensively and in the circle. She boasts a 0.58 ERA and a team-leading .531 on-base percentage. Salas is in her senior year and is batting .320. She has turned a team high five double plays.
All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the two NFCA NAIA All-America teams, which will be announced June 6.
