SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Our Lady of the Lake (OLLU) softball earned a sweep over Baker on Sunday afternoon. The Saints had a big inning in each game to propel them to two victories over a talented Baker Wildcat squad.
Notables
- Ava Hernandez earned the win in game one while Annika Litterio earned her third win of the season in game two.
- Kristee Salas went 4-for-6 at the plate with two hits and two RBI.
- Grace Ross finished 3-for-7 with two RBI.
- Alyssa recorded three hits and scored two runs.
- The Saints drew eight walks and were hit by four pitches in the doubleheader.
How it Happened
- The Wildcats plated two runs in the top of the first inning on an RBI single and a wild pitch, giving them the early lead.
- Caitlin Terrazas led the game off with a hit by pitch and Alyssa Flores followed by earning a walk. Grace Ross roped a double down the left field line to plate the Saints' first two runs of the game.
- Yezenia Perez, Ava Hernandez, and Alyssa Garcia each picked up an RBI in the inning to make it 5-2.
- Castaneda put her stamp on the first inning with a two-RBI single to centerfield, making it 7-2 in favor of the Saints.
- A two-run homerun by the Wildcats in the fifth inning made it a 7-4 game.
- Baker added another run in the sixth to make it 7-5.
- Hernandez retired the Wildcats in order in the seventh to secure the victory for OLLU.
- Baker once again struck first in the second game, this time with a solo homerun to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth.
- Kristee Salas led off the bottom of the fourth with a triple down the right field line. After giving way to pinch runner Ayanna Trejo. Terrazas tied the game with a sacrifice fly, scoring Trejo.
- Flores put the Saints ahead in the fifth with a solo homerun to left field. Caitlin Casa picked up an RBI to make it 3-1.
- Salas had a two-RBI double to extend the Saints' lead to 5-1 and Danika Jimenez picked up her first hit and RBI of the season to make it 6-1 after five innings.
- Baker added a run in the sixth and the seventh.
