OLLU Women's Basketball Downed by USAO 92-55

PLAINVIEW, TEXAS (Nov. 12, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team finished play in the Queens Classic with a 92-55 loss against The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). The Saints drop to 2-2 overall while the Drovers remain undefeated at 5-0.

Head Coach Tanya Ray said, "We ran up against a very good USAO team. The Drovers aren't ranked but probably should be. This weekend overall was a good gauge for us, and we have a lot to take away in terms of seeing areas where we need to improve and get better."

History

The Saints were 1-1 against the Drovers prior to the game.

Basics

The Drovers aggressive defense was on full display Saturday morning. They held the Saints to under 20 points in every quarter and forced 27 turnovers. USAO shot 46.3 percent from the field and had 17 offensive rebounds. Cormia Lewis and Natalia Trevino finished with double-digit scoring and Tiffany Lopez was one point away from a double-double. The Drovers didn't let up in the fourth quarter with 50 percent shooting from the field and won 92-55.

Offensive/defensive standouts

Lewis led the Saints with 14 points. Lopez tallied a team-high 12 rebounds. Trevino and Lopez led the Saints with three assists each.

Zaria Dorsey led USAO with 24 points. Dorsey and Lainey Morrow grabbed eight rebounds each for the Drovers. Tonijah Fortune led the team with six assists.

Inside the box

OLLU combined for 20-of-53 shooting for 37.7 percent, 6-of-22 from three-point range for 27.3 percent and 9-of-13 from the free-throw line for 69.2 percent. USAO shot 38-of-82 for 46.3 percent, 8-of-24 three pointers for 33.3 percent and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line for 66.7 percent.

The Saints grabbed 38 rebounds while USAO collected 42. OLLU forced nine turnovers and committed 27.
