Saints Race Past Paul Quinn College 76-42

DALLAS (Jan. 5, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team defeated Paul Quinn College (PQC) 76-42 on Thursday. The Saints improve to 9-5 overall and 6-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Tigers fall to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in RRAC play.

Head Coach Tanya Ray said, "Anytime you can get a win on the road it's good. I'm glad we were able to get a lot of people involved offensively."

History

The Saints were 21-1 against the Tigers prior to the game.

Basics

The Saints shut down the Tigers on Thursday night. OLLU jumped out to a 21-9 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Three Saints players finished with double digit points and Natalia Trevino was one rebound shy of a double-double. The Saints forced 14 turnovers by the Tigers and limited Paul Quinn to under 30 percent shooting. OLLU was strong on the boards with 16 offensive rebounds and added 14 assists.

Offensive/defensive standouts

Carrie Barrera-Lacy, Tiffany Lopez and Trevino led the team with 12 points each. Trevino had a team-high nine rebounds. Trevino and Ariadna Gallardo finished with four assists each.

Adrianna Belton led PQC with 15 points. Marquise Nelson grabbed 11 rebounds for the Tigers. Ahlura Lofton led the team with five assists.

Inside the box

OLLU combined for 33-of-75 shooting for 44 percent, 7-of-22 from three-point range for 31.8 percent and 3-of-4 from the three-throw line for 75 percent. PQC shot 16-of-60 for 26.7 percent, 5-of-17 three pointers for 29.4 percent and 5-of-10 from the free-throw line for 50 percent.

The Saints grabbed 50 rebounds while Paul Quinn collected 35.
