Saints' Offense Shines in 83-58 Win Over Texas College

SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 26, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team raced past Texas College (TC) 83-58 on Thursday. The Saints improve to 12-8 overall and 9-4 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Lady Steers drop to 6-14 overall and 3-10 in RRAC play.

The Saints were 22-2 against the Lady Steers prior to the game.

Basics

The Saints offense hit on all cylinders Thursday night. Natalia Trevino marked double-digit points in the first half and added seven rebounds. OLLU's defense stood tall by limiting the Lady Steers shooting to 28.6 percent from the field in the second quarter.

OLLU scored at will in the third quarter with 27 points. They held the Lady Steers to nine points in the frame and forced three turnovers. The Saints finished strong in the fourth quarter with 16 points and won by a 25-point margin. OLLU defeated the Lady Steers earlier in the season, and tonight's win finishes the regular season sweep.

Offensive/defensive standouts

Trevino led the team with 21 points. Trevino also had a team-high 10 rebounds to earn a double-double. Trevino and Cormia Lewis finished with five assists apiece.

Dyneshia Bailey led Texas College with 13 points. Te'Aire Hambrick and Cree McLemore grabbed five rebounds each for the Lady Steers. Aliyah Solis totaled three assists.

Inside the box

OLLU combined for 30-of-64 shooting for 46.9 percent, 8-of-24 from three-point range for 33.3 percent and 15-of-20 from the three-throw line for 75 percent. TC shot 18-of-55 for 32.7 percent, 5-of-20 three pointers for 25 percent and 17-of-22 from the free-throw line for 77.3 percent.

The Saints grabbed 39 rebounds while TC collected 30.
