Saints Defeated by HTU 76-42

AUSTIN, TEXAS (Feb. 15, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team faltered against Huston-Tillotson University (HTU) 76-42 on Tuesday night. The Saints are now 14-12 overall and 11-8 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Lady Rams improve to 11-11 overall and 9-8 in the RRAC.

History

The Saints were 30-1 against the Lady Rams prior to the game.

Basics

The Saints struggled in a conference loss to HTU on Tuesday night. They started the game strong by outscoring the Lady Rams by three in the first quarter, but the game went downhill afterwards. OLLU only totaled five points in the second quarter while allowing 23. The Lady Rams took a 15-point lead into the halftime.

OLLU scored 16 points in the third quarter but were limited to eight points in the fourth frame. The Lady Rams scored over 20 points in both quarters to end up winning by 34. Carrie Barrera-Lacy totaled three steals and Cormia Lewis had seven rebounds. The Lady Rams finished with 21 fast break points and 45 points off the bench.

Offensive/defensive standouts

Tiffany Lopez and Wynter Taylor led the Saints with eight points each. Lewis grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Lewis finished with two assists.

Bre'Auna Smith led HTU with 12 points. Smith also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Three Lady Rams players finished with four assists each.

Inside the box

OLLU combined for 15-of-54 shooting for 27.8 percent, 0-of-10 from three-point range and 12-of-16 from the three-throw line for 75 percent. HTU shot 33-of-83 for 39.8 percent, 7-of-30 three pointers for 23.3 percent and 3-of-4 from the free-throw line for 75 percent.

The Saints grabbed 36 rebounds while HTU collected 53.
