Women's Basketball Downs LCU 75-53 on Seniors' Day
SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 17, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team used strong offense to defeat Louisiana Christian University (LCU) 75-53 on Saturday. The Saints jump to 9-15 overall and 8-11 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Wildcats drop to 10-13 overall and 7-12 in conference.

The Saints were 3-2 against the Wildcats prior to the game.
Basics
OLLU's defense limited the Wildcats to nine points in the first quarter. Cormia Lewis totaled eight points in the frame and the Saints forced nine turnovers. The Saints continued to shoot well in the second quarter by outscoring the Wildcats 23-17. The teams went to the break with the Saints leading by 19 points.
The Wildcats outscored the Saints in the fourth quarter, but the Saints kept them from creating any sort of comeback. Lewis, Ariadna Gallardo and Julia Plata all finished with double-digit points. Tiffany Lopez had six blocks to become the Saints all-time career leader with 79. The Saints have three games remaining in the conference regular season schedule.
Offensive/defensive standouts
Lewis led the Saints with 21 points. Gallardo gathered eight rebounds for OLLU. Carrie Barrera-Lacy and Lewis tallied four assists apiece.
McKayla Price led LCU with 13 points. Deja Tanks grabbed eight rebounds. DaKayla Howard led the team with three assists.
Inside the box
OLLU combined for 26-of-54 shooting for 48.1 percent, 8-of-12 from three-point range for 66.7 percent and 15-of-19 from the free-throw line for 78.9 percent. LCU shot 17-of-55 for 30.9 percent, 4-of-13 three pointers for 30.8 percent and 15-of-22 from the free-throw line for 68.2 percent.
OLLU grabbed 34 rebounds while the Wildcats collected 36. The Saints committed 18 turnovers and forced 24.
