
OLLU Women's Basketball Has Two Earning NAIA Scholar-Athlete Recognition
KANSAS CITY, MO. (March 20, 2024) – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2024 Daktronics NAIA Women's Basketball Scholar-Athletes on Wednesday. Selected from Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) are Cormia Lewis and Lorena Ramirez.
The 2024 list features 887 student-athletes that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
Previous winners included Krystal Manning, Beth Hampton, Vernessa Roberts – 2011; Chelsea Solis – 2012-2023 and 2013-2014; Nashae Owens and Mecedes Dobson – 2013-2014; Mercedes Dobson – 2014-2015; Chelsea Foster – 2016-2017; Francesca Patrick – 2016-2017 and 2017-2018; Rachel Baity – 2017-2018; Gabrielle Guzman – 2021-2022; Cormia Lewis, Lorena Ramirez, Angeline Sanchez – 2022-2023.
Cormia Lewis earned a 3.64, while Lorena Ramirez marked a 4.00.
