OLLU Women's Golf Wins Crusader Invitational

THACKERVILLE, OKLA. (Oct. 25, 2022) – After rainy weather on Monday necessitated moving the Crusader Invitational to today, the Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's golf team hit the course ready to battle and the Saints prevailed to take first place. The event was hosted by the University of Dallas and held at the Winstar World Resort and Golf Club.

Head Coach Arnie Martinez commented, "I couldn't be more proud of our women this tournament. Once again, we were dealing with inclement weather and the conditions were tough but our women persevered and came out on top. Having day one postponed was definitely a mental setback but the women understood the objective for the tournament and executed.

"I've been saying all semester that we've been working the team hard, so it's good to see the team having some success going into our off season.

"Congratulations to Ceci Lattuada on another impressive second-place finish. She had an opportunity to tie for first place, but sometimes the putts don't drop. The sky's the limit for these women. I'm excited for the spring. Go, Saints!"

Originally planned for two rounds, the tournament was cut down to one. The Saints shot an overall 331 to capture the tournament title. Trailing behind by six was Concordia University-Texas. Southwestern University fnished in third with a score of 340, followed by the University of St. Thomas at 342, the University of Dallas at 347, LeTourneau University at 349, East Texas Baptist University at 354, Schreiner University at 355, Hardin-Simmons University at 363 and Texas Lutheran University at 370.

Three Saints finished in the top 10 out of a slate of 59 golfers. Ceci Lattuada was one shot off the winner at 80, and she tied with three other golfers for second place. Annabelle Reyna tied for sixth place with an 81. Madelyn Miller marked a three-way tie for ninth with a total of 84.
