Women's Soccer Falls Short Against Texarkana

TEXARKANA, TEXAS (Sept. 21, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team wrapped up the weekend road trip in a loss to Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) 3-0 on Saturday. The Saints fall to 1-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Eagles remain perfect at 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference.

Head Coach Lee Williams said, "We started really slow and they took their chance. Our mentality was immediately to go down the other end and create an opportunity! We grew into the game and we spoke at halftime to refocus on the controllables and our principles. I thought apart from some isoldated incidents we were excellent in two-thirds of the field. We just couldn't finish when we got into some very good positions. The players that came in gave some really positive energy and stability. I was happy with how we played. We pinned them back in the second half and they hardly came out of their half. We are little adjustments away from being where we want and need to be."

The Eagles scored right out of the gate in the second minute. Delani Chappell put Texarkana in front with an assist from Desiree Narvaez. The Saints responded with a shot by Angela Garcia and a corner kick by Allison Kostoch in the following minutes. The Eagles offense picked up with two corner kicks and a shot on goal. OLLU pressured in the few minutes before halftime with two shots on goal by Kaitlyn Olivas that were both saved. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Texarkana's offense struck early again in the second frame. Brooklyn Lattier scored in the 56th minute with another assist from Narvaez. Narvaez followed with a goal at the 64th minute to put the Eagles up 3-0. The Saints recorded four corner kicks in the second half but were unable to score. The Eagles won 3-0 to continue their undefeated season. The only card shown in the match was a yellow to Dusty Van Huss. Samantha Valadez had five saves and played all 90 minutes.
