Six OLLU Soccer Players Win Academic All-District Awards

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 21, 2024) - The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Outstanding student-athletes are nominated by members of CSC for Academic All-District® recognition by communications directors and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and meet high athletic standards. (25,000+ nominations annually). Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) Sports Information Director Patty Constantin is an 18-year member, while Sports Information Assistant Ryan O'Keefe became a member in 2023.

The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.

The athletes selected from OLLU are the following: 

Junior Sara Garza, a kinesiology major, has been part of the team since 2022. She played in 17 games, 13 as a starter. She scored two goals this year. Sara earned a 3.69 GPA.

Junior Cristian Govea Mireles, a business management major, has been part of the team since 2023. He played in 18 games, 15 as a starter. He marked a 3.78 GPA.

Senior Haven Ortiz, a psychology and criminal justice major, has been part of the team since 2021. She played in 17 games, 16 as a starter. She scored one goal. Haven earned a 4.00 GPA. 

Senior Lyndee Rheinberger, an education major, has been part of the team since 2021. She played in 17 games, 7 as a starter. She led the team with eight goals and 22 shots on goal. Lyndee marked a 4.00 GPA.

Graduate student Tim Talabi, who is pursuing a master's in cyber security, has been part of the team since 2020. He played in 17 games, 16 as a starter. He scored two goals and added two assists. Tim earned a 3.88 GPA. 

Sophomore Leah Tapia, a kinesiology major, has been part of the team since 2023. She played in 17 games, 16 as a starter. She was second on the team with five goals and had two assists. Leah marked a 4.00 GPA.
