Saints Women's Tennis Falls to UT-Rio Grande Valley

SAN ANTONIO (Feb. 4, 2024) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's tennis team fell to the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) 0-7 on Sunday. The Saints move to 2-1 on the season while the Vaqueros improve to 2-1.

Head Coach Dave Watts said, "Today our ladies were up against a really tough DI team in UTRGV. I believe it's important to schedule matches like these, considering this is an equivalent level of a national championship caliber NAIA team. We were able to see what areas of our game got exposed and need the most improvement. I think we were also able to see some of the things that we did well. We saw what holds up and what does not at a high level. After the match was over, I was proud of how our women communicated with each other: 'What needs to be improved this season - Culture, Energy, Tactics.' I can tell that we have a group that isn't satisfied with mediocrity. This was definitely a needed match, as it sets the expectation for the rest of the season."
