Women's Tennis Battles in RRAC Tournament Tomorrow

SAN ANTONIO (April 24, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's tennis team will host the 2024 Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament from April 25-27. The tournament includes seven teams with three states being represented.

Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) is the number one seed. LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) earned the second seed, followed by LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) in third and the Saints as number four. Louisiana Christian University (LCU) is fifth, followed by Lewis-Clark State College (LCSC) at sixth and Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) at seventh.

The Saints had a memorable regular season. They defeated No. 25-ranked the University of the Cumberlands 4-2 and finished March with a 5-1 mark. The squad beat NCAA D2 the University of Texas-Permian Basin 4-3 in a close match. The Saints also rode a six-match winning streak halfway through the season.

The Saints will face No. 5-seed LCU on Thursday in the quarterfinals. The semifinals will be held on Friday with the championship match following on Saturday. The winner of the Saints and Wildcats quarterfinal will face No. 1 seed XULA. The other quarterfinal matches are No. 3 LSUS versus No. 6 LSCS and No. 2 LSUA versus No. 7 TAMUT.

The Saints are hosting the tournament at Blossom Tennis Center. The matches will be played to clinch, meaning the first team to four points wins. The automatic bid for the national tournament will go to the winner if the team is ranked in the latest NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The championship trophy will be presented at the end of the tournament.
