OLLU's Broussard and Zuniga Selected As NAIA Scholar-Athletes for Track and Field

KANSAS CITY, MO. (May 25, 2023) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Women's Track and Field Scholar-Athletes this week. The 2023 list features student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution, appeared on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.

Earning recognition from OLLU are Lindsey Broussard and Viridiana Zuniga.

Broussard had a successful outdoor season, where she captured the 5000m and was the runner up in the 3000m. Her other top 10 finishes include: ninth in the 1500m at the UTSA Invitational and eighth at the Charles Austin Classic in the 1500m. She joined the team in 2020, and the team earned NAIA Scholar-Team honors, and she was named an RRAC Scholar-Athlete. In 2021, the team was the RRAC Champions, NAIA Scholar-Team and she was runner-up in the 5000m and 3000m and a Scholar-Athlete. The following year, her team was an NAIA Scholar Team, and she was the conference champion in the 5000m. Last year, she was named a conference scholar-athlete and she earned Academic All-District First Team honors.

Broussard received her Bachelor of Arts in Art this past May, and she earned a 3.75 GPA.

Zuniga's top 10 finishes this season include: eighth in the 800m at the Charles Classic and fourth in the 800m at the Cactus Cup. She joined the team in 2021, and the team was the RRAC Champions. She won All-Conference honors in the 4x800m relay and the 800m. Last season, she received All-Conference honors in the 4x800m relay. She received RRAC Scholar-Athlete recognition.

Zuniga is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She earned a 3.72 GPA.
