Saints Volleyball Dominates Jarvis in Two-Match Sweep

SAN ANTONIO (Sept. 17, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball team swept Jarvis Christian University (JCU) in the Friday-Saturday Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) series. The Saints remain undefeated in conference at 4-0 and 7-8 overall, while JCU drops to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in conference.

History

The Saints are 23-0 against the Bulldogs. OLLU swept 21 matches, only allowing one set win for the Bulldogs in 2019 and last season.

Friday

Basics

The Saints totaled 48 kills for a percentage of .326 against the Bulldogs on Friday. JCU logged 25 kills for a .136 percentage. Leading the way for the Saints in kills was Mia Dorsey with 14 and Camila Ramirez with 11. No one for Jarvis had double digit kills, but Asiah West led the team with eight kills. Both Lauren Reynard and Tina Trevino marked two service aces, while Aubrey Jackson was able to get one service ace for JCU.

The Saints had 18 kills, on 36 total attacks with six errors for a hitting percentage of .333 in the first set. Jarvis had eight kills, on 27 total attacks with four errors for a hitting percentage of .148.

In the second set, OLLU had 14 kills, five errors and 36 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .250. JCU had 10 kills on six errors and 25 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .160.

For the final set, the Saints had 16 kills, seven errors on 35 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .257, while JCU had seven kills, seven errors and 29 total attacks for a hitting percentage of .000.

Match leaders

Reynard led the Saints in assists with 39 and Trevino recorded 12 digs. Madelyn Gonzalez block four, one solo and three assists. Johnice Hubbard was her team leader in assists with 18, while Jahnaya Kelly totalled nine digs. Aaronyana Wilson had six block assists.

The Saints totaled 41 kills for a percentage of .211 against the Bulldogs on Saturdday. JCU logged 26 kills for a .033 percentage. Leading the way for the Saints in kills was Mia Dorsey with 13 and Camila Ramirez with 11. No one for Jarvis had double digit kills, but Asiah West led the team with nine kills. Mia Francis marked five service aces, while Johnice Hubbard, Asiah West, Jahnaya Kelly and Wynter Jones had one ace each for JCU.
