Volleyball Defeats LCU to Advance to RRAC Championship

NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 10, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) volleyball team defeated Louisiana Christian University (LCU) 3-0 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Tournament semifinals on Friday. The Saints are the No. 1 seed and will face No. 2 seed Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) in the championship match tomorrow.
Head Coach Scott Mattera said, "This was a clean performance on defense, serving and offensive transition. We need to carry it forward to tomorrow! Mia Dorsey and Camila Ramirez were smart with their shots and Madalyn Gonzalez was everywhere in transition!"

The Saints were 6-0 against the Wildcats prior to the match.
Basics
The Saints beat LCU in an impressive performance on Friday night to advance to the RRAC Tournament championship match. OLLU held the Wildcats to under .100 hitting percentage in every set. The Saints had double digit kills in every set and committed only 10 errors. Eight different Saints players recorded at least one kill. The Saints had six service aces and didn't allow an ace by LCU. The Saints also had 10 block assists.

Overall, the Saints had 47 kills for a hitting percentage of .385. LCU totaled 20 kills for a hitting percentage of .022.
Dorsey led the Saints with 12 kills. Lauren Reynard assisted on 35 plays for OLLU.
Defensive standouts
OLLU had a total of 43 digs, led by Julissa Casas with 11. Allison Mata and Dorsey totaled four blocks apiece.

Reynard led the Saints with three service aces.
