OLLU's Three Top Volleyball Players Win Red River Weekly Awards
WACO, TEXAS (Sept. 2, 2024) – Mia Dorsey of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) earned the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Volleyball Attacker of the Week award for her outstanding performance from Aug. 26-Sept. 1. OLLU's Lauren Reynard was tabbed as the RRAC Setter of the Week, and OLLU's Tina Trevino repeated as the RRAC Defender of the Week for the same dates. This is the second set of weekly winners for the 2024 RRAC volleyball season.
Dorsey's exceptional performance was showcased in a 3-1 week for the Saints at the highly competitive San Antonio ShinDig Tournament. The junior outside hitter from Bethel Bend, Texas, also finished the tournament with a .385 hitting percentage, 20 digs and seven blocks. Dorsey collected 19 kills in a 3-2 loss to the formidable Rocky Mountain College and added 18 in a 3-1 win over John Brown University. She leads the RRAC with 131 kills. OLLU is now 6-6 on the season.
Reynard compiled 42 assists and 26 digs in the ShinDig tournament. The junior setter from San Antonio averaged 7.8 assists per set for the week. Reynard's high assist total for the week was 42 in a 3-0 victory over Kansas Wesleyan University. She currently has a conference-best 309 assists for the season.
Trevino tied her record of 39 digs in a match by hitting that total in the Saints' victory over John Brown. The senior libero from Laredo, Texas, wrapped up the tournament with 97 digs and 6.4 digs per set. Trevino also reached 29 digs in the loss to Rocky Mountain, and she is the RRAC leader with 6.1 digs per set this season.
