OLLU Women's Cross-Country Participates in Texas A&M University Event

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 15, 2022) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's cross-country team participated in the Texas A&M University Arturo Barrios Invitational on Saturday. The team finished in 33rd place out of 38 teams in the 6K.

The event featured mostly NCAA D1 schools, OLLU was the only non-NCAA school to participate

Head Coach Patrick Torres commented, "The women's team is considerably younger than the men's team. This is their first time in a big stage race, and I'm proud of how it went. I know we learned a lot from it. This team will be back here again and better for the experience they had."

Deandra Ibarra had the best finish for the Saints with a time of 23:26.2 for 171st place out of 326 runners. Nadia Sifuentes finished with a time of 24:30.7, followed by Leilani Leza with a time of 24:55.6, Mia Curiel with a time of 25:16.5, Sierra Ramirez with a time of 25:44.4, Viridiana Zuniga with a time of 26:19.3 and Robbie Sue Espericueta with a time of 26:28.1.

The Saints will host and prepare for the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Nov. 4 at Culebra Creek Soccer Fields in San Antonio.
