Women's Cross-Country Team is Set to Repeat as Red River Champions

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 1, 2023) - The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's cross-country team will get set for the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships on Friday, Nov. 3 at Texarkana, Texas. The event is being hosted by Texas A&M University – Texarkana.

The women's teams will run the 6k first beginning at 10 a.m. The men will follow at 10:45 a.m. for the 8k.

After the meet, TAMUT will present awards to the team champions and runners-up and the All-RRAC Runners, which is comprised of the top 10 finishers. Also awarded will be the Runners of the Year (individual winners), Freshmen of the Year (highest freshmen individual finisher) and Coaches of the Year (winning coaches) plaques.

The women's team first won the conference meet in 2013 and repeated in 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2018, the University of the Southwest captured the women's title, with the Saints as runners-up. The Saints returned in 2019 to win and proceeded to capture the title in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

In 2022, Nadia Sifuentes finished as the Top Medalist, while Deandra Ibarra (third) earned Freshman of the Year honors. Viridiana Zuniga (sixth), Mia Curiel (ninth) and Sierra Ramirez (10th) all received All-Conference honors and competed in the NAIA National Championships.

Running this year for the Saints are Mia Curiel, Leilani Leza, Valeria Pena, Sierra Ramirez, Jocelynn Reyes, Sanai Robinson, Daylah Vega and Viridiana Zuniga

Teams participating for the women are Jarvis Christian University, North American University, OLLU, Paul Quinn College, the University of the Southwest, Texas A&M University-Texarkana and Xavier University of Louisiana.
