Women's Cross-Country Participated in DBU Old Glory Gallop

GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS (Oct. 5, 2024) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's cross-country team placed 27th out of 46 teams in the DBU Old Glory Gallop event sponsored by Dallas Baptist University.  Participants in the event were from a variety of NCAA D1, D2 and D3 schools, as well as a few NAIA and NJCAA schools.

Head Coach Brett Charlton commented, "The women's team ran well this past weekend. They finished 27th out of 46 teams and were the second best NAIA school on the field. They are continuing to imprve meet-to-meet. Mia Curiel led the way with a time of 19:34."

Taking first place with Rice, followed by Cal Poly Pomona, Dallas Baptist, Texas State, Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas Tech, East Central, MSU Denver, Midwestern State, Oklahoma Baptist, UT-Tyler, Trinity, Southeastern Oklahoma, St. Edward's, Cameron, Oklahoma City, Lubbock Christian, McMurry, Southern Arkansas, Prairie View, Western New Mexico, Hill College, Ranger, New Mexico Highlands, UMHB, Southwestern and OLLU. After the Saints were Texarkana, Hardin-Simmons, North Central Texas, Texas Southern, UT-Dallas, Texas A&M International, Blinn, Texas Lutheran, Mid-America Christian, Nelson University, Southwestern Oklahoma, Schreiner, Jacksonville College, Texas Wesleyan, Dallas, Murray State, Concordia, Arkansas Monticello and UNT-Dallas

Mia Curiel led the Saints with a 19:34 in the 5K for 120th place out of 420 runners. She was followed by Liliana Hernandez with a time of 20:15, Victoria Bartlett at 20:18, Leilani Leza at 20:58 and Valeria Pena at 21:38.

What's next

The Saints will host the OLLU Cross-Country Invite at Windcrest Golf Course in Windcrest, Texas, on Oct. 12.
