
Mia Curiel First At OLLU To Receive USTFCCC NAIA Player of the Week Honors
NEW ORLEANS (Nov. 4, 2024) – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCC) announced that Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) Mia Curiel has been named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week for the NAIA. Awards are given to men and women student-athletes from NCAA Division I, Division II and Division III, as well as NAIA.
This is a historic moment for OLLU as Mia Curiel becomes the first student-athlete to be named M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week in cross-country. Her achievement is a source of pride and excitement for the entire OLLU community.
Curiel helped her team to its 10th Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships and sixth in a row. She had the lead role in earning individual honors for the first time, as the Saints triumphed with 20 points. Curiel won the individual crown by 15.3 seconds, clocking 24:03.6 over the 6000m track at Windcrest Golf Course in Windcrest, Texas. She was a member of the Saints' last two team titles, taking third last year and ninth in 2022.
