Women's Basketball Drops Conference Game Versus LSU-Shreveport

SAN ANTONIO (Dec. 14, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's basketball team fell to LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) 73-50 on Thursday. The Saints are now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC). The Pilots improve to 7-2 overall and 3-0 in conference.

History

The Saints were 19-17 against the Pilots prior to the matchup.

Basics

The Saints struggled shooting in the first half against the Pilots. They shot 15.4 percent from the field in the first quarter and 27.3 percent in the second quarter. The Pilots went to the free-throw line 12 times in the first half and hit 11. They also forced 10 turnovers by the Saints. Tiffany Lopez led the Saints with 10 points at halftime.

OLLU totaled double-digit points in both the third and fourth quarter, but the Pilots continued to shoot well. The Pilots were able to grab 19 rebounds in the second half and the Saints had eight turnovers. Cormia Lewis and Lorena Ramirez both had five points in the second frame. Lopez and Deja Hinson both finished with double-digit points.

Offensive/defensive standouts

Lopez led the Saints with 12 points. Asia Prudhomme tallied a team-high five rebounds. Hinson led the Saints with two assists.

Destanee Roblow led LSUS with 14 points. Roblow also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Alexis Brown and Erynn Williams led the team with two assists apiece.

Inside the box

OLLU combined for 10-of-51 shooting for 19.6 percent, 3-of-11 from three-point range for 27.3 percent and 27-of-41 from the free-throw line for 65.9 percent. LSUS shot 26-of-70 for 37.1 percent, 4-of-17 three pointers for 23.5 percent and 17-of-20 from the free-throw line for 85 percent.

The Saints grabbed 22 rebounds while LSUS collected 39. The Saints forced nine turnovers and committed 18.
