Women's Soccer Battles LSU-Shreveport in RRAC Tournament Quarterfinal

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 2, 2023) – The Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) women's soccer team qualified for its 14th Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Championships, and this season, the women are the No. 6 seed.

Quaterfinal schedule

The Saints will play at No. 3-seed LSU-Shreveport (LSUS) on Friday, Nov. 3, at 12 p.m., in Shreveport, La. The second quarterfinal matchup on Friday is No. 8-seed the University of the Southwest at No. 1-seed Xavier University of Louisiana at 1 p.m.

The other quarterfinal games are on Nov. 4. No. 7-seed Texas A&M University-San Antonio plays at No. 2-seed Texas A&M University-Texarkana (TAMUT) at 1 p.m. No. 5-seed Louisiana Christian University battles No. 4-seed LSU-Alexandria at 1 p.m., as well.

The semifinals will be played on Nov. 9 with the championship match following on Nov. 11. The games will be hosted by TAMUT at Eagle Field in Texarkana, Texas.

History

The Saints have made it to the finals in 2009, 2010 and 2021; the semifinals in 2011, 2012, 2018 and 2022; and they won the conference tournament in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020. The Saints missed making the playoffs two years – in 2008 and in 2017.

OLLU season stats

In 15 games this season, the Saints have scored 37 goals, and added 22 assists on 251 shots, 141 on goal.

Sara Garza leads the team with eight goals. Jaylin Seto and Leah Tapia follow with four goals apiece. Tapia also leads the Saints with 38 shots, with 23 being on goal. Tess Pitcher has tallied 63 saves with a .829 save percentage.

LSUS season stats

LSUS has played in 17 games this season and the Pilots have 58 goals, and added 52 assists on 263 shots, 158 on goal.

Chelsea Brown leads the Pilots with 11 goals. Brown also has the most shots on goal with 34. Dawniella Torres has assisted on 11 goals and Carlota Alcalde has 37 saves in net.
